A brand new show set within the world of Charmed, The Family Spell follows the trials and tribulations of the Davidsons, a family of powerful and prolific witches, as they deal with the awakening of magical powers within their youngest member, and try to keep their family united against the evils waiting outside their door. In the picture-perfect community of Newport Beach, California, and in a life that's constantly changing around them, it's gonna take all they've got to achieve this.

At the head of the Davidson family are Michael and Emily. While Michael is nothing more than a mortal married into an intense magical heritage, Emily is an incredibly powerful witch. Their kids, twins Brendan and Jane are following in their mothers footsteps, with youngest son Johnny also on his way, as the world of magic is exposed to him, and struggles to comprahend the true nature of his magical heritage.

With the arrival in a new community, one thing becomes certain straight away. Nothing is as it seems. Trouble lurks at every corner, with the forces of the underworld reaching out, and threatening the family in ways they never thought possible. In order to pull through, the family must come together, and tackle these new challenges in their lives head on. As a new chapter of their lives begin, so does the beginning of a new adventure. Nobody knows quite where their heading, or just how confusing their lives are about to become.

The Family Spell is a spin-off from the series Charmed, that ran from 1998 to 2006 on the WB network. Charmed centered on three sisters, who happened to be witches, and their struggles to juggle their social lives with their magical ones. While primarily a light show, it did get dark at times, dealing with the concepts of both the under, and over world. It had deep mythology, some of which I'll be retaining for TFS.

For starters, the Underworld will be a heavily visited place within the first season. I'll also be making great use of the Whitelighter concept, but not until later seasons. For those of you unsure, Whitelighters are guardian angels of sort. People who did good in their lives are rewarded upon death, by being given the chance to aid witches, and protect prospective whitelighters. Their powers include sensing and healing their charges, as well as the ability to transport themselves, which is known as Orbing.

I'll also be retaining the idea of a Book of Shadows. The way I see it, every magical family has one, that's been added to by past generations. Scrying - a supernatural lojack through use of a crystal, map, and personal effects will also be put to use. As for the characters of Charmed themselves, they're definitely out there. While they won't be making an appearance on TFS any time soon, there are definitely plans to include them..
