Duncan’s elderly mother, Matilda, is a sort of recluse in her old age. She's the one responsible for creating the Team, as well as getting her son out of prison, after she becomes aware that he'll be able to help them track down The Poisoned. At first, Duncan wants nothing to do with the ex-Congresswoman, as they haven't spoken in decades. But soon, her chilling demeanor almost becomes endearing, as we learn more about her life, and her loves.
