Vampires.

mythological or folkloric beings that are renowned for subsisting on human blood or lifeforce, but in some cases may prey on animals. Although vampires have different characteristics depending on which lore one reads, in most cases, they are described as reanimated corpses who feed by draining and consuming the blood of living beings.

For millennia, they have existed. One of numerous races who have descended into nothing more than myth, stories the human race tell each other to invoke fear. In truth, they are as real as you and I...

... and since they came into being, the vampire has fought countless underworld battles and wars with the other races - werewolves, demons, ghouls - all of whom too remain as mere myth. These wars became stories too, those which the human race knew about. Many raged in secret, in the darkest corners of the Earth. It created a supernatural world of chaos, with vampires at it's savage, beating heart...

... until the Brotherhood was formed.

In essence a vampiric 'seat of government', men who believed peace could only be achieved by trying to assimilate into human society, a way of ensuring the survival of their species. They used human science to eradicate the vampiric traits from their species such as bloodlust, allergy to sunlight, freakish strength and even immortality. In the 21st century, the Brotherhood were gearing up to reveal the existence of vampires to the world as fact - knowing with these traits gone or dulled, humanity can accept them.

But a faction exists in the vampire nation who don't believe the Brotherhood way is the right way - they never have. They are the Schism.

A sect of vampire warriors who believe in the idea of peace and worship God, in control of their savage instincts, the Schism have always believed a vampire should live as God made him, both with his powers and flaws. Born out of the Brotherhood's creation, the Schism do not follow their code and actively recruit vampires who share their philosophy. They have operated covertly, in multiple cells across the globe, many of them nomadic as they sought to save vampires from the Brotherhood's tampering and protect their own from occult enemies such as the Lupan werewolves who would threaten their existence...
...but now, everything has changed.

The Brotherhood is gone, its vampire nation nurtured over six centuries in chaos. The wolves are literally circling, old enemies stirring, and only the Schism may stand between the very annihilation of their entire race...

...and one young woman may provide the key to saving the Schism - from itself...

Her name is Rachel Tyler, and now we begin her story…
