Lives are turned upside down, as the Inquisition of 1486 spreads through the city of Paris. The witch Selene du Miette
battles, and dies at the hands of, the evil men who claim to lead the Church, only to open her eyes once again, in a world that has forgotten
her. On her first night in Paris, Selene is targeted by a group of vampires and rescued by Nicholas and Lunette - but soon has to mount a rescue
mission of her own.

While Nicholas and Lunette help Selene continue her adjustment, they try to figure out who Aveline is and why she's important.
During their research, they are forced to face the vampires once more, only to be rescued by an American witch who seems to have her own vendetta
against them.

Selene dreams about a murdered Inquisition witch, and stumbles into a ritual Ashaera is attemping, a ritual that goes horribly
wrong. Meanwhile, Arnaud's investigation is getting closer and closer to the group, resulting in a disastrous outcome.

The gang regroup and try to deal with the fallout of their actions; Ashaera and Selene must come to terms with their guilt, while a mysterious organisation investigates
Arnaud's research.

Christian and his organisation work tirelessly towards completing their mission, but when an old face returns they find the delicate politics of their community is deeply
shaken. Meanwhile, Aveline becomes involved in their plots in an ever-increasing degree of importance.

When Nicholas' sister visits Paris, the gang find themselves having to deal with family drama as well as their usual kind of supernatural menace. As Selene and Ashaera try
to help Arnaud in his continuing transition, Aveline finds herself front and centre in a plot to save Lunette and Nicholas' sister from a mysterious new enemy.

that might reveal a few other secrets along the way.

Aveline learns some devastating truths about her family history and must come to terms with them to fight, as 'the One' is revealed. Who is 'the One' and more importantly, who will get to them first?
