THE HERETIC is a three-part mini-series created and written by Adam Scott, the creator of Dominion and Walker.

The discovery of a mutilated body in the river throws the small town of Kingby-upon-Wharfe into chaos. Tobias Blackwood, a mysterious outsider and new arrival in town, begins his investigation aided by the young Detective Sergeant Jack Armitage. As the investigation continues, it becomes apparent that this is not a simple murder, and that Tobias’ fears of a major supernatural presence in town are very real.

As the search deepens, the violence escalates and one name crops up again and again – the Dark Man, a mysterious presence that haunts Tobias in his dreams. And at stake is the soul of a young girl, Danni Smith, around whom strange supernatural events appear to be happening.

Forced to ask himself tough questions about what he truly believes in, Tobias Blackwood embarks on a frightening quest to track down the Dark Man and redeem himself before the community implodes ... or takes revenge itself.
