How'd'ya Find Us?
« on: February 19, 2011, 03:39:34 AM »
So I'm sure this has been kicked around before, but since I'm a curious soul, I want to know: How did you find your way to MZP? If you're new what do you want out of being part of this amazing community? If you're old, go ahead and ramble like me -- its good for the soul or something.

So I found my way here after reading Darren Eldred's Buffy continuation which Lee later took over and made his own. I joined the old boards in October of 2004 and have been lurking around kicking the tires on newbie writers since -- and you know, sometimes the old timers need a good kick too ;-)

I always wanted to ask Lee what he would have done differently if he's started the Buffy continuation on his own and didn't have to use Darren's ideas. So when you drop back in man (apparently he's away for a few days O_o), give us a bit of Inside the Actor's Studio on that one...

Found my way to you guys through Phoenix virtual television. Looking for an Angel continuation or something and found one of your old links to the old sight. Now back then children the site was not the site you see before you today. Back then, it the main page was a mass of posters, really big ones. Arranged in what was out now and what was coming out next season, and the season after that.

Sigh, I miss that site.

Hmm. I need to hop into my time machine...

Right. Now I remember.

I found Lee's first incarnation of Somewhere inbetween ('ello Chris and Sunday) via Simply Scripts after fanfiction.net killed my Angel virtual series off for being in script format. I was just glad someone else was as crazy as me, and that I'd found a place where they didn't look down their nose at writing spec scripts as virtual episodes. I do remember seeing a few fanfic sites that said nasty things about script format.

I should probably put a disclaimer in. I've been here for yonks too, but my post count is so low because I wiped out my previous total. Plus, I'm an antisocial hermit.  :wiggle:

Well I remember back in February 2008, looking around for a Buffy and/or Angel continuation, or maybe even a Spike spin-off.  And then I found it.  Buffy S8 by Darren Eldred.

I read.  I loved.  I signed up.  That was two years ago.

On a Firefly discussion board back in early 2005. Somebody had a link to Virtual Mutant in their sig, I was intrigued, the rest is history.

Once upon a time (2007) I was looking for an Alias Season 5 trailer on Youtube and happened to stumble into MZP's Alias Season Six video. Intrigued, I followed the link to MZP, found out about The DSR and fell in love with it. And I roamed the site happily ever after.

When I was a wee lad, still trying to figure out if tv writing was what I wanted to do with my life, I was voraciously tearing through any blogs that might help - including Doris Egans. Egan was one of the exec producers of Tru Calling, and she wrote a poat outlining what seasons two and three would have looked like, and along came the creators of the MZP Tru Calling in the comments, linking back to here. And the rest,'folks,'is history.

That, folks, is why comment sections are not always the devil.

A Google search of "what happened after the series finale of Angel?" led me to a few fan fic sites that were virtual continuations. Eventually I found MZP was the best of about three I saw and then I ravenously consumed every script I could find. Nowadays I've slowed right down due to real life.

I'm here to stay though! :)

I remember it like it was just yesterday....

I was reading a virtual continuation of Buffy on another site, Btvs the chosen,  back in late 2005 and was scrolling through their affliates/links page and came across MZP. I clicked it, started reading all the Jossverse continuations and loved it. Somewhere Inbetween was the first original vs I read and from then on I was hooked.

I should have a higher post count given my time here but like Claire I'm also a bit of antisocial hermit/lurker with real life responsibilities that sometimes mean I'm not online here for stretches. But am here to stay. Consider me a life time member  :D

I'm not 100% sure either, to be honest - pure chance, I think. May even have been Phoenix, actually. I wouldn't have been trolling for Whedon. I may have been looking for other Trek fic as in 2005, when I found MZP, I was just getting started with VS on Nov Net & TIWWA.

Like I say, still not sure. I can remember it was late August though. And I was just 23 years old. *sigh*

I saw some of the opening credits on YouTube for Slayer Academy and found my way to MZP. I'm glad I did.
