Season Five Discussion
« on: June 03, 2009, 11:21:58 PM »
So the big reveal is, er... revealed. Slayer Academy jumps forward an entire year between Seasons Four and Five - and the stories taking place during those twelve months will be chronicled in a series of special webisodes during July, with Season Five premiering in August.

We've slipped a few details about what you can expect into both our S5 promotional material (spoilers, artwork and Alden's codeword games) and the new website information, but more will be revealed in due course...

But what do you, our beautiful audience, have to say about this? We do this for you!

Slayers: Heroes Or Villains? sounds like a pretty cool idea for a webisode. Looking forward to it.

From a readers point of view I'm very excited - and from a Staff Member's point of view I can tell you this will be excellent!

I love the new updates to the website! It sucks that my favorite blind slayer is now a villain. You def can count me in as your number one fan.

Just checked at AskMen for the Top 99 Women and on the 27th place I saw Mila Kunis (aka Erika). None other ladies from Slayer Academy are on this list, so according to it, Erika is our sexiest Slayer... :-)

Personally, I think Braeden was the sexiest (anti) slayer. Mila Kunis doesn't really do it for me for some reason...

Well, she is the sexiest according to that list, but it may be different in some people'e eyes. I must say I don't find her the sexiest Slayer, either - personally I prefer Sam (Brooke Nevin) or Dora (Marie Sarantis)...

Yeah, I wish Sam had stuck around. I've always liked Brooke, I would have loved to have her as a regular.

*sigh* Tori. I'm far from a fan, but it looks like I'm stuck with her. I had been hoping she'd been locked away in a Council prison cell or something. I still stand by what I said about her last year - as a villain, she felt like a one/two episode style character stretched into a seasonal arc, and given that's been my impression of her for a long time, she's not exactly positioned to get any better standing with me. Admittedly, I said similar things about Frankie back in the early part of season one, but part of my judging her was due to her being portrayed as Paris Hilton (and I've been forced to up my opinion of her since watching Repo). Guess we'll see.

It would've been interesting to see, but I don't think Sam had a place in the narrative we were constructing. We're already juggling a heavy cast, after all! ;)

Victory is gone, so don't worry about that. We, the staff, find Tori a much more interesting character than Victory, who was often intentionally grating; soulless characters are often irritating, especially without a charismatic actor bringing them to life (David Boreanaz as Angelus, James Marsters as Spike). There's only a limited amount of depth one can explore with a character who is incapable of looking inward or questioning their own actions. The depth typically comes from forcing them to anyway, which is phase 2 of Tori's character.

And especially seeing as Tori's got her soul back - that opens up a whole can of worms as to what her position is. Seeing as she sired Erika, snapped Rachel's neck and was the cause of hundreds of deaths across the UK, I can't exactly see her getting an easy transition in the aftermath of the Council assault...

...but a real question is, especially in the wake of the 'One Year Later' webisodes being released in a month or so, what is Tori's position right now? And where the hell will she be?

One major thing I'm looking forward to this year - both as a writer and as a fan - is the time jump, as it's the biggest one we've done in the show. Now we know the main players this year - including promoted fan favourites Fran and Mela - what will happen with the eyes of the world squarely on our girls?

Are there any dangling threads or unanswered questions that fans are desperate to find out about? You tell us...

Should be able to announce airdates for 'One Year Later' and Season Five later today or tomorrow - as a rough guide for now, OYL will be starting near the end of July, with S5 to follow in late August ^_^

I'm going to rejig the airdates a bit - I'm actually on holiday at the end of August, so S5 needs to start in September instead. Plus, I'm spreading the One Year Later webisodes out a bit more, they're feeling too cluttered with the current schedule. Updates to follow.

I  love slayer academy completely it has been a good series
Now i have a question: Now i noticed that Xander and Willow have guest starred.
