Alec Walker is a man without a home. A wanderer, he travels the globe, helping where he can and attempting to balance the scales in the ongoing war between the human and supernatural world.
But Alec carries a very strange secret with him; he is a Knight, one of a small group of men gifted with incredible powers said to have been granted by God himself. These powers give Alec the ability to make a real difference, but they come at a price: they are dangerously addictive and if used too much they can cause untold damage.
Alec now travels with a team to help and support him, a team including Jackson Byers, Alec's loyal partner and backup man; Chloe Parker, a young agent of MI-16 who found herself thrust into a whole new area of the supernatural world; Jonathan "Flame" Colby, the billionaire heir to the vast Colby Industries empire gifted with the powers of a Seer; and John Henry Boone, a member of the religious vampire order of the Schism.
The team found themselves caught up in a running battle against the House of Cain, the biggest vampire organisation in Europe, and their secret project known as Spartacus. It soon become apparent that the Cain were looking to breed an army of vampire super-soldiers, but as more of the puzzle became clear Alec found himself discovering a new threat in the form of a group known as the Circle. As the final battle raged inside Project Spartacus itself, Alec found himself confronting the emissary of the Circle, another Knight who gave Alec a chilling prophecy: "Everything you believe in is a lie."
The team’s focus changed; the mission became about tracking down the Circle and Gideon, and learning just what their mysterious agenda was. Meanwhile, another threat was rearing it’s head in the form of Caleb Marsten and a vicious gang of werewolves who arrived in Newcastle to challenge the newly promoted Paige Collins for the leadership of the House of Cain.
With neither side prepared to give ground, a war broke out on the streets between the vampire and werewolf clans. Alec and his team found themselves caught in the middle, trying to keep the peace and prevent civilians from being hurt, but they soon faced their own problems in the return of Gideon, who was kidnapping Seers to try and gain a vision of the future – getting a glimpse of a war still to come and the sight of London decimated by a nuclear strike.
Meanwhile, the team faced problems on the home front in the form of Laurel Ravenwood, the professional thief and Alec’s former lover who returned to assist the gang … but it was soon revealed she was in fact playing a long con that left Alec devastated as a result. Jackson became involved with Kate Osborne, a young woman with Seer abilities. Chloe found herself struggling with the double-edged sword of an unexpected promotion. Boone found himself forced to confront the mistakes of his past when his long lost daughter appeared. And the team met Flame’s father, the mysterious man known as Ezekiel, the most powerful Seer in the whole world.
But as the war reached a terrifying conclusion, the true villain of the piece revealed himself; Bishop, an ancient, terrifying male Seer with powers beyond anyone’s comprehension. Using an ancient device, he turned Kate Osborne into the focal point of a plan to bring everyone in the world under his own mental control. As the team took on Bishop’s forces in a terrifying battle to the death, Alec was forced to make a decision with devastating consequences – in order to defeat Bishop, it was necessary for him to kill Kate.
In the aftermath of Kate’s death, Alec’s relationship with the team was utterly destroyed and he left them behind, journeying off with his mentor Baines in order to track down Gideon. It’s been over a year since the team have seen Alec. Now, circumstances will force them back together … as an old enemy reappears with a terrifying new plan…
