The Writing Check-In Thread
« on: Sat Feb 28 2009, 21:34 »
What are you currently writing? Novel, screenplay, teleplay, comic book, copywriting, travel writing, news? If it requires pen to paper or fingers to key, talk about it here.

Frustrations, joys, favourite snack?

(Love the new board!)  :D

Is it okay for me to fill up the Faith forums since I'm on staff? I'd be happy to help out.

That would be great Li, thanks. It's a lot of work for just Lee to do.

Didn't want to step on any toes or anything but I had some free time today so I filled up the Angel and Buffy forums too.

Really liking these new boards. If only I had some writing to  contribute to the relaunch! Alas, I'm still ridiculously busy with this evil little thing called school. 7 months to go, people. 7 freakin' months!

Not sure if there's a "new board troubleshooting" thread or anything, but I have a query.

All of my url links to youtube videos in the Shackles Season Two Episodes thread are now showing the videos themselves within the forum. Is there any way just to make those links... links?

There's an FAQ thread in the newbie section that's been linked in the news box for the last 10 or so days.

Use [noem bed][/no embed] BBCode to prevent a link from being converted.

Do we have any banners for advertising the move? There might not be a lot of traffic, but I can post the announcement at my LJ virtual TV community and I'm sure there are people who frequent other boards with VS ties.

I realise using Buffy/Angel is a little cliche (and mostly out of date), but picking 2 or 3 shows out of our roster would be a little unfair on the others, so I hope this will do.

Dankie. I have posted the news.

So. Hands up who's trying out for Script Frenzy this year?  :moe:

I just felt like using that smiley.

Yep. Starts in 2 weeks. Why I'm signing up for it when I crashed during the last one and last year's NaNoWriMo is beyond me.

I'm liking the new board as well. It took me a little while to figure out if I would, but I think the new smileys make it all worth it.

It takes a little while longer to load than the previous website. But I can overlook that  8-)

Loads quick for me. I've removed some of the images (such as the quote/modify/remove/split ones on topic screens), which might speed up load times.

Can easily add them back if people want them.

It was slow for me at first too, but it's running really fast now, much faster than proboards.

I must admit to losing sight of the buttons without the images!  The rotating show icons in the top right were cool too, while they lasted.

I'm sure I'll soon get used to it though if it significantly affects people's loading times (especially if they're on dial-up or throttled).

We'll have rotating icons/banners back, but probably only to promote special events (premieres/finales/etc). We'll stick them up if showrunners make them.

And the buttons are back. Slight IE problem. Why can't the browsers just get along?

Trying to record a mini Podcast for DD 201. Keep messing up the takes. I think I've set a record for how many times Daredevil Season Two can be followed by the words 'fork, okay. Go again.'

I just finished commentary for G&C 1.03, I know how you feel.

Aye - it's difficult to do. Had to write down what I wanted to say in notepad, and use it as a leaping off point. Never do these things in the 'improv' style.

I actually did mine improv, my biggest problem came from fumbling my words and everything while I spoke because all my thoughts would get cluttered.
