WALKER TO RETURN AT CHRISTMAS WITH FEATURE-LENGTH SPECIAL EPISODE
Series creator ADAM SCOTT (
The Heretic, Dominion, the upcoming
Kings Cross) today confirmed the start of production on
Absolution, a feature-length episode that bridges the gap between
Walker’s second and third seasons.
Season two, which concluded in August, saw the lives of the team shattered after Alec Walker was forced to take the life of an innocent in order to save thousands.
“The movie picks up five months after the events of the season two finale,†Scott revealed. “Suffice it to say that Alec Walker’s been left in a very dark place as a result of his actions. At the end of the season he made the decision to walk away from the most important people in his life – now we get to see how that decision has affected him.â€
The special, set in the week before Christmas, will see Alec forced to confront a deadly enemy while cut off from the rest of the world. Scott promises a tale of “action, intrigue and very dark emotion. Alec finds himself in charge of a band of civilians battling to survive against all odds, with enemies ranging from monsters to the harsh weather itself.â€
Returning to join series star JONATHAN RHYS MEYERS will be veteran actor BILL NIGHY, reprising his role as Mark Baines.
Other cast members include ANNABELLE WALLIS (
The Tudors), TOM BURKE (
State of Play), RUPERT GRAVES (
Sherlock), LIAM CUNNINGHAM (
Dog Soldiers), STEPHEN GRAHAM (
This is England), and JJ FEILD (
Centurion).
Absolution, written by Adam Scott and produced by Back Room Productions, is set to air exclusively on MZP-TV on Christmas Eve. Walker’s third season, entitled
The Broken Circle, is expected to launch it’s fifteen episode run in the summer of 2011.
