THE HISTORY OF MONSTER ZERO PRODUCTIONS
by Monster Zero

From such small acorns do the mighty oaks grow... well, if we're comparing ourselves to trees, anyway. I mesan, I'm sure MZP-TV and a tree have plenty in common, when I think about it - lots of 'branches' (as in our many and varied shows) stretching off into the wild blue ultrabeyond, a good strong trunk (the 450+ members of the Monster Zero Production message board who are the backbone of this place), and, er... we have 'moss.' Which stands for... no, sorry, already out of steam with this particular metaphor.

Anyway! History lesson time. Sit comfortably, or uncomfortably if you prefer it that way, and we'll begin...

A long, long time ago (I can still remember), way back in 1994, a young British student named Lee Chrimes sat down to write a story for his English class. The story grew to a 36-page behemoth that kickstarted young Lee's desire to write, create new worlds and characters and see if he could one day make some money out of any of this...

Fast forward to Spring 2003. Lee joins an online Buffy the Vampire Slayer virtual continuation both to develop his growing writing muscles (which are apparently located in the elbow and left thigh, according to 'scientists'), and also keep working on his own Buffy spin-off, Chris & Sunday. His work on the Virtual Continuation was well-received, inspiring Lee to create the Monster Zero Productions message board forum, the mission statement being to develop and promote his own work, and also recruits other writers and producers, young and old, to create an online community of writers and bring more virtual series to the world's attention.

Fast forward again (see? isn't time lapse fun!) to Autumn (or 'Fall' as the Yanks call it) 2004. MZP has now blossomed into a community of over a hundred members, both staff and audience members, with no less than three websites also adding to the circulation - Somewhere Inbetween, designed to produce the show of the same name (the rebadged version of Chris & Sunday, translating it into an original series), MZP-TV to produce and promote original virtual series, and Virtual Mutant to continue the good work of the various Jossverse original series and continuations the staff are working on.

And now, four years on as of March 2008, we have twenty-six shows past and present with a whopping twenty-nine completed seasons of VS entertainment between them to offer you - and many more either in progress or still to come!

As the saying I just made up goes, 'If you keep readin' 'em, we'll keep writin' 'em.'

THE MZP GENRES

The shows in our 'Action' genre all promise a heady cocktail of stunts, explosions and fireworks, mixed in with the MZP trademarks of focused character development and explosive story arcs! We also pride ourselves on making 'action' a little different here at MZP-TV, so you can expect a dash of sci-fi, horror or the supernatural along your gunfights and car chases...

While initially only featuring one show, 'Comedy' has now become a serious contender here on MZP, with the semi-autobiographical The High Life proving to be one of the biggest hits in years! There's all kinds of laughs here, from the surreal and self-referential to the downright daft, so pick a show!

One of our broadest categories, 'Drama' covers everything from teen soaps like Pathways to the exciting new takes on Spider-Man (Gifts & Curses) and Daredevil. You'll also find more unusual shows like Shackles and the brooding Night Stalker here too. Quite literally, there's something for everyone here!

We don't just stick to virtual television shows here at MZP - in fact, we've created a special section just to showcase some of the fantastic feature-length screenplays and stupendous mini-series events our talented bunch of writers and producers have created. There's everything from movies set in established franchises like James Bond or Mission: Impossible, to brand new movies that could even lead to a VS of their own some day, to compact minis that leave you gagging for more!

A continually evolving genre, 'Sci-Fi' has long been a chance for MZP to show off some of the other great VS out there, taking in the world of Doctor Who along the way, something that's sure to get the old pulse a-quickening! With more great new sci-fi shows in development, watch this space as we try to reach for the stars!

'Supernatural Drama' covers every drama or action show with an other-worldly twist to it, whether that's magic and witchcraft, vampires, the afterlife or reincarnated deities, so if you like your shows with a little extra spook for your buck, here's the place to start!
